Dark Chocolate Bark with Pistachios, Dried Figs & Sea Salt Du liest Roasted Chicory Root Latte with Cardamom and Date 2 Minuten

Time: 5 minutes

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 tsp roasted chicory root granules (or 1 chicory root tea bag)
  • ¼ cup hot water (for brewing)
  • 1 cup oat milk (or any plant milk)
  • 1 Medjool date, pitted
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamom
  • ½ tsp Ceylon cinnamon
  • Pinch of vanilla powder or ¼ tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Method:

  1. Brew the chicory root granules in the hot water for 3–4 minutes. If using a tea bag, steep for 4–5 minutes, then squeeze and discard.
  2. Warm the oat milk in a small saucepan over medium heat until steaming (not boiling).
  3. Add the brewed chicory, warmed oat milk, pitted date, cardamom, cinnamon, and vanilla to a blender. Blend on high for 20–30 seconds until frothy and the date is fully incorporated.
  4. Pour into your favourite mug and drink warm.

Notes:

  • If you don't have a blender, use date syrup (1 tsp) instead of a whole date, and whisk everything together in the saucepan.
  • Look for roasted chicory root granules in the coffee alternative section of most health food stores. Brands like Dandy Blend or loose chicory root from bulk herb suppliers both work well.
