“A wise man will make more opportunities than he finds.” Francis Bacon
(A wise woman as well Francis, watch your gender inclusivity)
I find opportunity to be a fascinating concept…
What exactly is it?
Well google defined it for me as this;
“…a time or set of circumstances that makes it possible to do something.”
Opportunity then, according to google could be positive or negative.
That means then that we all have a, excuse the pun, opportunity to redefine opporunity in our lives.
For some of us, opportunity has been cruel.
To the more fortunate others, opportunity has been prosperous.
Either way, we all interact with it on a daily basis.
But old mate Francis has a different take on it.
Wise men (and women) create more opportunity than they find.
Is this even possible?
To some of you this would feel impossible.
But he is actually right.
You see, our past experiences create mindsets which in turn become the filters we interpret reality from.
As some of those filters are indeed damaged, your perception on reality is also warped.
(Matt how is this related to opportunity?).
Let me get there.
Now I know I am right on this, but just entertain the idea if you don’t believe me… Is it possible to create more opportunity than you find?
It simply is… if you want it do be.
You create your own framework of reality, if you chose to create it you can.
If you chose not to then you don’t have to.
So I guess the skeptics among us are right as well.
The big question remains then, what will you decide?
If you are an entrepreneur you’ll create opportunity.
If you are a consumer you’ll find it.
Now, every single day, not only will you find opportunity but you’ll also create it.
You’ll chose which one to major on.
Learning to see each opportunity for what it is…
“Small opportunities are often the beginning of great enterprises.” Demosthenes
